Perfect Women's Swing, Balboa, or Ballroom Dance Shoes. These Aris Allen women's mid-heel 1940s Velvet and Mesh Mary Jane dance shoe are an exact copy of a sought after 1940s design. This shoe has a unique design with a detailed strap and mesh front. With a sensible heel at about 2.25" these shoes also feature a buckle that is attached with a piece of elastic. This provides you with a little "give" when you're up on your toes. The moulded foam insole is nice and soft. How They Fit: These shoes have been tried on by countless dancers and they fit pretty much true to size. Despite their roomy construction most test subjects did not need a size larger than their usual size. These shoes are a generous fit so if you have narrow feet you may find them a bit too spacious. Sizing: Aris Allen is a US brand and the shoes are supplied in US sizes. Our drop-down sizing selections provide general size conversions and are not specific to this shoe, so please read the “How They Fit” paragraph above. About Aris Allen Suede Soles: These shoes are made with suede soles which are great for dancing but if you snag the edges, for example on steps, edges or uneven dancing surfaces, the suede may need re-gluing using super-glue or shoe repair glue. It is advised that you do not wear suede soles outside as it can damage them. However suede soles will dance faster the more they are worn, and as they get shiny on the bottom. If you prefer them less zippy you can dull the "mirror finish" they can get by roughing them up with a wire brush periodically.
